Open meetings law questioned with tense budgets

Although legislative committees are not bound by the 48-hour agenda notice outlined in the state open meetings law, they are required to meet in public except in extraordinary circumstances. For JFAC to have a quorum, six of ten members would have to be present.

Anti-racism resolution raises call of the Senate

The Idaho Senate "denounces acts of racism and commits to eradicating the conditions that allow racial animus and undue prejudice to persist in Idaho,” though it took an unusual route compelling lawmakers to attend the vote.

House passes Texas-style immigration bill

The Idaho House passed a bill in a 53-15 vote Friday that would allow local law enforcement to detain and potentially deport undocumented immigrants.
