A Message From Greg | Greg Thorsen

Team,

In recent months, we have seen extreme droughts across Europe and the U.S., which are bringing the significance of water scarcity to the forefront of news headlines and corporate water saving initiatives. No doubt many of you have heard concerns from your customers around the increasing cost of water and energy, inflationary pressures, and increased sustainability targets.

With this in mind, now is the time to offer our customers our world-class service and innovative solutions for increased water and energy savings. At your next customer visit, take time to discuss how our ProTEX Plus program can help them meet energy and water conservation goals, retain and grow their customer base, and conserve critical resources. In addition, our water and energy equipment offerings can really help our customers reach significant water and energy savings.

Utilizing leading edge surfactant and enzyme technology, ProTEX PLUS delivers a highly efficient wash program that reduces alkali, wash temperatures, water consumption, and time – helping to reduce the plant’s environmental footprint through water and energy savings, increased safety and large productivity savings – leading to increased capacity for customers. Our digital dashboard drives visibility for customers so they can really “see” the savings and understand the impact on their bottom line. And soon, these savings will be realized by segments beyond F&B and mixed plants in our industry!

Moving forward, digital solutions will continue to be very important, so embrace the digital tools you have available to you! We recently saw upgrades to the enVision platform that include a new name, Wash Process Intelligence powered by ECOLAB3D, and slight changes to the look and feel of the navigation elements. The purpose of these upgrades is for global brand alignment and preparation for future digital enhancements powered by ECOLAB3D. To learn more about the possibilities and our digital future, take a few moments to view this ECOLAB3D video. In order to optimize the total value your partnership delivers, please make sure you are using Dynamics to its full potential, capturing service details and demonstrating its value to our customers, as we will continue to see enhancements to support our digital future.

As we near the end of the year, stay focused on new business activation, pricing, and delivering exceptional service and innovative solutions to help customers save water, energy and time – all while keeping safety top of mind. This team has unique solutions no one else can offer, so take time to demonstrate your value and be the partner our customers cannot live without.

Stay safe and healthy,

Greg

Remembering Tracy Gunter

TCD Team,

Our Ecolab family recently suffered a tremendous loss. Tracy Gunter, Aramark Dedicated Regional Manager, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, KY.

Tracy was born September 14, 1966, to Larry and Carolyn Gunter in Morganfield, KY. After graduating from Union County High School in 1983, Tracy joined the U.S. Army where he served in the peace keeping force in Egypt. He returned to Union County and began working on the wash floor at Sani-Clean and then Sitex in Henderson, providing a solid foundation of knowledge that set him up for success as he began his 20-year career at Ecolab. Tracy held many roles within Ecolab and excelled in each one. Over the last eight years Tracy has led the Aramark team, managing the largest chain in the Textile Care business. He was consistently recognized as District Manager of the Year during annual award ceremonies, and strategically guided his team to be recognized as District of the Year for several consecutive awards.

The relationships Tracy built with Aramark were unparalleled. He had a passion for helping customers succeed and focus on growth. His constant willingness to help and support others drove his many accomplishments throughout his tenure. He will be deeply missed by his Ecolab family and by the Aramark management team.

A long-time member of St. Ann Church, Tracy touched numerous lives as a basketball coach, and a youth league baseball coach in Union County. He was a dedicated father and mentor to many throughout his lifetime. Tracy’s happiest times were spent with his family, all their friends, his community at Bentwood, and his dog Finn. He often shared how lucky he was to have such a fulfilled life.

A visitation to honor Tracy was held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, KY. And floral arrangements have been sent on behalf of the Ecolab Textile Care Division and the Aramark team. TCD will continue to support Tracy’s family.

Please keep Tracy's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Sales and Budget Standings

Textile Care monthly sales standings are back.

Keep strategizing how you and your team will climb to the top!

Thanksgiving Plant and Terminal Closures for US Bulk Deliveries | Ernest Heifort

All US Plants and Terminals will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday 11/24 and Friday 11/25

  1. Cutoff for orders delivering the week of Thanksgiving will remain Wednesday Nov 16th noon local time.
  2. Cutoff for orders delivering week of Nov 28th following the holiday will be moved to Tuesday Nov 22nd at noon local time. Confirmation report will go out on EOD Nov 23rd.

We anticipate there will be many orders coming in to ensure our customers have product through the holiday. Here’s what you can do to ensure the best service possible to our Ecolab customers:

  • Think ahead and place orders to deliver two weeks BEFORE and/or AFTER the holiday. This will keep schedules manageable during the short holiday week.
  • Pulling ALL orders up could also cause capacity constraints for the week prior to the holiday so please look to identify both what can be pulled up as well as pushed out to the week following the holiday.
  • Precise and on time ordering will eliminate late orders being pushed out an additional week.
  • Late rush orders can negatively impact other accounts who place their orders on time.
  • Plan ahead on bleach orders. A significant spike in bleach during a short week could cause constraints with specialty equipment.
  • Optimize product quantities and allow us to optimize full trucks. No need to place minimal orders in an attempt to fill a truck.

Information around Christmas and New Year’s closures will be in follow up communications.

NEW TCD Safety Glasses Program | Carl Mattson

The Walmart prescription safety glasses program has ended and with that, TCD has a new program in place. The new program allows an associate to go to the vision center of their choice for prescription safety glasses and use their corporate card to charge up to $200 for a pair of glasses. Any amount over that must be paid personally.

The procedure is straightforward:

  1. Go to your direct manager and let them know you have a prescription for new safety glasses
  2. The manager gives permission to get the pair of glasses
  3. Then go to any vision center with your prescription and order the safety glasses using your corporate card for payment up to $200
  4. Enter the charge into your expense report under “Safety Supplies”

A new pair is allowed every two years if needed by your eye doctor. Your direct manager manages the approval so there is no further wait for other approvals.

If you have any questions, please reach out directly to me to discuss. [email protected]

Experts of Industrial Campaign | Katie Ericsson Wanek

The Ecolab Industrial team is kicking off a campaign called “Experts of Industrial”. The goal of the campaign is to showcase the depth and breadth of our associates’ experience at all levels of the organization.

To do this, we're asking for stories that we can share from the businesses and regional experts (SAT, sales and service associates, engineers, chemists, and all other professionals).

We have created the Experts of Industrial form so that associates can share their stories for use throughout this campaign. The responses we gather will be used to create posts for Nalco Water and Ecolab social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram). We may also look for ways to publish stories internally on INSIDE.

Before publishing anything, the posts will be shared with the submitter and communications partner for awareness and review.

Click Here for an example of how these stories may come to life on social media. We are still adjusting the draft of this post, but it gives you an idea of how the messaging will look.

As always, we appreciate your collaboration.

Success for TCD and Bay Linen | Steve Fox

We are thrilled to share another installment of our series of monthly TCD Insider stories, describing how our field colleagues go beyond, using our products and services, partnering with their accounts to accomplish amazing business results. This month's article takes us to Bay Linen in Clearwater, Florida where the story begins back in January of 2021 with an unexpected opportunity.

The Director of Bay Linen, Mark Hoenemeyer, requested an innovation review, looking to further benefit his business. Clay Lafrenz, Steve Fox, and Todd Borden decided to take full advantage of this customer's request, presenting the innovation Ecolab's Water and Energy capabilities could bring to their business. Importantly, that presentation included a calculation from Nathan Bergstrom demonstrating the Blue Ocean savings, and the potential fiscal impact that this TCD innovation could bring to their operation. The eye opener to Bay Linen was the January 2021 ROI for Blue Ocean conservatively projected at 2 years, a time frame that met Bay Linen's capital expenditure model. While Bay Linen shared their immediate interest, they also shared this interest was tempered by their previous year experience with a recommended water reuse solution from Kemco Systems. Kemco had proposed a CMF Solution, but would not commit to a firm ROI, for their system expense said to be as much as 7 times that of Blue Ocean. So, to overcome this the team arranged for Bay Linen to visit the Rockledge Florida Linen plant, which had already installed Blue Ocean. That visit validated to Bay Linen the simplicity and benefits of Blue Ocean, leading to their commitment to move forward and purchase the unit. First payment was received with their June 2021 order with payment in full for the equipment divided into 4 stages: 25% when the equipment was ordered, 25% when the equipment was shipped from Europe, 25% when the equipment arrived at Bay Linen and the final 25% after the system was installed and fully operational.

Once the Blue Ocean equipment arrived at Bay Linen, installation was led by Mickey Walker, using his experience in the installation and application of Blue Ocean at Florida Linen. Assisting Mickey were his colleagues Clay Lafrenz, Ken Daniels, Todd Borden, and Logan Aker, who were critical to a successful startup in July 2022. Within the first month the results for Bay Linen from Blue Ocean have been amazing.

The status of Blue Ocean at Bay Linen continues to exceed Bay Linen's expectations from TCD's January 2021 presentation. They are now projected to have a 12-month ROI and quality has maintained its Hygienically Clean Standard on the conventional wash floor. In addition, Bay Linen's Maintenance Department has observed a significant reduction in solid waste in their wastewater effluent, resulting in cleaner drains. Residual active alkalinity in the reuse water has also allowed Ecolab to reduce its chemical consumption in the conventional washroom, resulting in further financial savings. Importantly, these benefits and savings were recently presented by Steve Fox at the IATHM Annual Meeting on September 10th, stimulating further interest in the Healthcare market. In addition, the Director of Bay Linen, who attended the meeting, also reiterated Steve's message to this group, throughout their 5-day meeting, stressing Blue Ocean's benefits and savings. This has provided a great reference to build on for more future business.

TCD Safety Update | Jean Andresen

COMMENTS:

In 2022 the goals we have set for Injuries and Vehicle Accidents is ZERO.

TCD NA has suffered two injuries to date in 2022. We had seven collisions YTD - (2) January, (1) February, (2) in July and (2) September.

If we ever hope to reach GOAL ZERO we must change the way we plan for what we are doing and put SAFETY at the forefront of our thinking. Just talking about safety won’t get the job done – we need to make safety an integral part of everything we do. It needs to become a part of our DNA, especially while driving.

Remember – ALL INCIDENTS ARE PREVENTABLE!

Here are the YTD results through September 30 regarding the Safety Initiatives we have in place for 2022:

PERSONAL SAFETY

  • Safety On-boarding (new hires) – one new hire through September 30, 2022, training complete.
  • SAFETY OBSERVATIONS and enter them into Intelex – Safety Observations are made while performing Risk Assessments, which we should be doing prior to performing any task. To date, we are at 72% of our target.

DRIVER SAFETY

  • VRM Coaching – All of our Managers have been trained on VRM coaching. Our rate for on time completion of assigned coaching through the month of August was 100%. VRM assigns coaching for drivers who record average monthly FICO score below 710, have a vehicle event (collision or citation), or does not record a trip on the Mentor App in 8 days (trips labeled as personal or passenger do not count).
