TEXTILE CLASSES

Intro to Textiles

Begins November 4

Wednesdays | 6:00-9:00PM

Ages: 16+

In this hands-on introductory class, participants will learn the fundamentals of safe operation of a variety of essential sewing tools. This checkout course bootcamp provides you with a discounted option for bundling your training rather than purchasing your checkout courses individually. By the end of the class, you'll have completed the requirements to operate the domestic and industrial sewing machines, serger, and longarm quilter independently at The Hawk Makerspace.

Beginner Sewing

Begins November 2

Mondays | 6:00-9:00PM

Ages: 16+

New to sewing? This is the best place to start! This class provides a solid foundation in how to confidently use the basic features of a standard sewing machine. You’ll learn how to wind the bobbin and thread a needle; adjust stitch type, length, and tension; guide fabric for straight seams; secure stitches for clean, finished edges; and work with universal needles and threads.

Intermediate Sewing

Begins November 3

Tuesdays | 6:00-9:00PM

Ages: 16+

Ready to take your sewing skills to the next level? During this class, you’ll dive into the world of trickier fabrics such as jerseys, knits, twill, chambrays or more to create refined and professional-looking items. Designed for more confident beginners transitioning to intermediate levels, this class focuses more heavily on skill-building practices than a finished product.
