Dear Friends,
As this year quietly comes to a close, I find myself filled not with urgency but with gratitude.
I am grateful for you.
For your trust.
For your faith in this work.
And for the way you have chosen, again and again, to stand with the children and young adults of Amigos de Jesús.
I spend time in Honduras not only to oversee programs and steward the resources you entrust to us, but to be present with the children themselves. To sit with them. To listen. To witness their growth, their struggles, their laughter, their play and their courage.
It is holy ground.
This year, I witnessed children who once lived in survival begin to live with dignity. I have seen young people take pride in their work, care for their spaces, and hold themselves to standards they once believed were out of reach. I have watched healing unfold slowly, and sometimes imperceptibly, through consistency, structure, and love.
None of this happens without you.
Your generosity allows us to do this work thoughtfully and responsibly. It allows us to invest in professional staff, mental health care, education, and vocational pathways.
It allows us to walk patiently with children whose pasts are complex without lowering our expectations for their future.
At Amigos de Jesús, we believe something very simple and very profound: that a child is not defined by what has happened to them, but by who they are becoming. As the poet John O’Donohue once wrote: “May you recognize in your life the presence, power, and light of your soul.”
I see that light every time I am with our children and I see it reflected in the generosity of those who walk alongside them.
As we enter the final hours of the year, please know how deeply your support matters not just financially, but spiritually. Your gift is an act of trust. It is an expression of hope. It is a quiet yes to the belief that love, lived faithfully, can transform lives.
