Greetings!
I am so grateful for all the beautiful ways we celebrated the tenth anniversary of my time as pastor of MCC Tampa. Thank you to everyone who participated in the celebration and worship service, onsite and online! Thank you to everyone who has been part of this ministry over these ten years!
I was so honored by all the thought and care that went into making this weekend a joyful occasion!
It is always wonderful to have opportunities to come together as a community! I am excited to share that there are many new ways that we are going to be building community at MCC Tampa in the coming months.
We are currently looking for new Board Members and Lay Delegates. We will be electing 2 Lay Delegates and up to 4 Board Members at our Annual Meeting on September 28. Candidates should plan to attend the Annual Forum on September 21, to introduce themselves and answer questions.
We are also kicking off a new Congregational Care Team! This team will help welcome newcomers, receive training to be able to provide spiritual and emotional support to the congregation, and help our church become an even more supportive and welcoming place.
We have a new Social Justice Team that will also be starting this Fall! The social justice team will lead our affordable housing efforts with the Hillsborough Organization for Progress Equality, plan social justice programming and events, participate in discussions, watch justice-themed films, and keep our congregation connected to the justice-based roots on which our church was founded.
Thank you for all you do to make our church the loving, inspiring, and hope-filled space that it is. I look forward to joining you in exploring and expanding our spiritual calling in our community.
You are loved,
Rev. Jakob
