The Ocean Breeze

Veterans Day 2022

In honor of Veterans Day, the Town of Atlantic Beach would like to thank our councilmen, board members, employees, and all veterans who have served!

Town administrative offices will be closed today, Friday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

$300,000 Grant Received

This week, Town Manager David Walker announced that Atlantic Beach had received a $300,000 CAMA Public Beach and Coastal Waterfront Access grant for the Boardwalk Renovation project. Walker said it was one of several grants the Town would pursue to offset the cost of the project to upgrade the boardwalk.

The Boardwalk Project will be completed in phases and includes a new boardwalk, bathhouse/restrooms, gathering spaces, multi-use pavilion, handicap-accessible beach accesses, and shade structures.

In anticipation of the project, Town crews have already removed the warped and aging wooden planks from the boardwalk, which have been a hazard to beachgoing pedestrians.

West Carteret Beach Clean-Up

The West Carteret Men's Varsity Lacrosse Team completed a beach clean-up from Fort Macon State Park to the Atlantic Beach Circle on Saturday! Seven players, three coaches, and several parents participated. Afterward, the boys enjoyed practice on the beach and lunch provided by Michaelangelos Pizza and Subs. Thank you for helping to keep our beaches clean!

If your workplace, team, or volunteer group would like to organize a beach clean-up of your own, please contact Town Hall at (252) 726-2121.
