October Good Catch Winner of the Month
Jeffrey Stearns was helping change out the jackhammer to the bucket and noticed the bolt that holds the pin in the cylinder rod was broken. This could have fallen out and hurt someone or severely damaged equipment.

Transportation Safety Topic
Common DOT Compliance Issues
We have a great safety record, but there are a few areas that we can work on to increase our commitment to safety.

Our CSA score (compliance, safety, accountability) is a reflection of our overall safety performance, and it comes from multiple areas, including traffic violations and out of service rates for vehicles and drivers.
The areas that have impacted us the most are traffic violations and equipment issues. Anytime there is a speeding event, rolling stop, or failure to obey traffic signs and signals, there is a significant impact on our safety score. Recurring equipment-related issues include low tire pressure, failing to conduct pre-trip inspections, lack of mudflaps, non-functional ABS indicator lights, and brake chafing. Some of these issues occur while you are on the road, which is why it is important to perform a good pre-trip and identify issues on the DVIR.

Please follow traffic laws, and do your best to help keep everyone safe on the road and avoid downtime.
Thank you for your continuing efforts and commitment to safe work environments. Our scores demonstrate our dedication to safety, and also create opportunities for lower insurance rates, help us win bids on jobs, and keep us competitive in the market.
