It’s no secret that we work in partnership at Midwest Mission. Without partners, Midwest Mission would be nothing. We have distributing partners, donating partners, prayer partners, and serving partners (volunteers!).
At Midwest Mission, we help people, help people. We help donors and volunteers help people they might never meet; we help other organizations help people in their communities through requested supplies; and we help our own communities help people by providing service opportunities that bring people together.
This week, we sent a load of requested items to Kentucky Mountain Mission. The story behind this shipment showcases the beauty of partnership.
Back in March, Mallory Webster, Communications Manager, and Brad Walton, Operations Manager, visited fellow UMCOR Depot, Mission Central in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. While there, the two discussed with Mission Central staff ways the two organizations could partner together.
Shortly after they returned home, Brad worked with their Operations Manager to plan a load of supplies Mission Central would send to Midwest Mission. Included were several pallets of brand new clothing items, blankets, and medical supplies.
While figuring out where all of the items were needed, Brad reached out to Central Illinois Christians in Mission (CICIM) to see if they needed any clothes for Kentucky Mountain Mission. CICIM has a longstanding partnership with the Mission, and sends trucks there full of furniture and clothing items. It was decided CICIM would send a truck to Midwest Mission that would pick up the clothes and send them on to Kentucky Mountain Mission.
Now, your head might be spinning, but all of that is to show that partnership is such a necessary part of what we do. No one of us can make it all happen, but when we work together, we can get the right items to the right people who are in need.
