Thank You, Washington County Voters

We are deeply grateful to the voters of Washington County for renewing the Public Safety Levy (Measure 34-346). Your continued support makes it possible for the Sheriff’s Office to maintain the level of service our community depends on.

Thanks to you, we can continue to provide a countywide law enforcement response, ensure proper jail staffing, support victims, supervise parole and probation, and sustain vital programs, such as our Mental Health Response Team.

Together, we’re helping keep Washington County a safe place to live, work, and thrive.

Sheriff Massey shared her appreciation for the community’s trust and partnership in public safety:

"I want to express my sincerest gratitude to the residents of Washington County for your trust and support. In approving the Public Safety Levy, especially during this season of economic uncertainty, you have sent a powerful message: that public safety matters, and that you value the service of our deputies and professional staff who serve Washington County every day. Your support will help ensure Washington County remains a safe place to live, work, raise families, and thrive. On behalf of the entire Sheriff's Office, thank you for standing with us and for one another.”

Honoring Corporal Tom Millsap

On November 10, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office joined family, friends, and community members in honoring Corporal Tom Millsap, who passed away unexpectedly on October 26 while at home with family.

Tom served in the Washington County Jail since 2001 and was a U.S. Army Veteran. His dedication, easy-going demeanor, and quiet professionalism touched many lives and will be deeply missed.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who joined us in remembering Tom, as well as to our partner agencies and the Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation for their support during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Tom.

DUII Driver Arrested with 21 Empty Beer Cans in Vehicle

On November 11, a WCSO deputy noticed a driver slowly traveling down the special left-turn lane, a lane not meant for regular travel. When stopped, the driver was found to be intoxicated with a .21% BAC and had multiple empty Coors Banquet cans within arm’s reach.

The driver was arrested for DUII and Reckless Driving.

The special left-turn lane, described in ORS 811.346, is intended for turning only. Not for passing traffic or getting ahead at an intersection. Misusing it can lead to serious crashes, especially when alcohol is involved.

If you plan to drink, don’t drive. Use a rideshare service, call a friend, or plan ahead for a sober ride.

Earlier this month, WCSO partnered with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce’s School to Career Program to host a High School Career Day at our Public Safety Training Center. We welcomed nearly 100 students from five local high schools.

During the event, students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain insight into various career paths within WCSO. They enjoyed a personalized and interactive experience that showcased what makes WCSO a unique agency through several different hands-on demonstrations organized by our specialized teams.

We hope to continue this event to reach more students interested in learning more about the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. We not only love showing how special WCSO is, but also building positive connections with the youth in our community.
