“When I came to SAHARA to apply for citizenship, I was very nervous and scared. For most of my life, I had been abused by my husband, in-laws, brother, & people I worked for; so, everyone scared me. But I really wanted to become a US Citizen because, in this country, I found my freedom and my sons were able to start their lives. We live in a tiny one-bedroom apartment, but we are happy. I also wanted to vote so we could elect someone who likes people that look different like me. SAHARA helped me with the application process and even with Civics and ESL classes so I could pass my citizenship interview. Staff at SAHARA was kind, respectful and helped me every step of the way. Today I am a proud America and have options for a better life. Thank you, SAHARA!”
