In a small, innovative class called Engage with My Community, Ari, Ashley, Christi and staff Mary Moellenhoff choose their activities each week with Mary providing the transportation. Local coffee shops, libraries, bowling alleys and museums are among the hot spots. "
They are learning to make choices instead of me," Mary explains. Ari's dad has seen the positive impact of the community-based class, which OP is expanding across the organization. "Ari has been exposed to such a large number and diverse elements of her community," Dan Carlson said. "Some of that awareness is hers, but I would suggest the community has also benefited from these ambassadors of awareness."
