Thank You for Standing With LORI This Year

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we come to the close of this year, I want to take a moment to say thank you. Your continued belief in the mission of the Louisiana Organization for Refugees and Immigrants (LORI) has sustained us through one of the most challenging periods immigrant and refugee communities in Louisiana have ever faced.

This year brought heightened immigration enforcement, aggressive anti-immigrant legislation, and growing fear for families across our state. And yet, because of you, LORI showed up—again and again—with courage, dignity, and care.

With your support, together we were able to:

  • Protect families during moments of crisis, expanding rapid-response and mutual aid efforts so families had access to trusted information, food, and emergency support when fear was at its highest.

  • Strengthen access to justice, providing immigration legal support and Know Your Rights education to hundreds of families seeking safety and stability.

  • Build civic power and leadership, engaging thousands of community members through cultural events, policy briefings, voter engagement, and leadership programs for youth and women.

  • Lay the groundwork for Louisiana’s first immigrant community center, a historic step toward creating a permanent home for power-building, learning, organizing, and belonging.

None of this is possible without you. Your generosity, trust, and solidarity fuel

every step we take and every family we serve.

What makes me most proud is not only what we accomplished, but how we did it—rooted in dignity, language justice, and the belief that immigrants and refugees are leaders shaping the future of Louisiana. As we look ahead, the work remains urgent, but so does our hope.

As we wrap up the holiday season, our team is making a final year-end push to meet immediate community needs. Families are sheltering in place. Babies are running out of diapers. Utility bills are coming due for households already stretched thin by rising costs and instability.

If you are able, I invite you to consider a year-end gift to LORI’s Mutual Aid and Rapid Response Fund. Your support will help us provide emergency food, diapers, utility assistance, and other essentials to families who need help right now this winter.

From all of us at LORI, thank you for standing with our community—especially in moments when it mattered most. We are deeply grateful to be in this work together.

With gratitude and solidarity,

Thank you for making a gift to LORI today.
