Gratitude for energy!

As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, let's give thanks for the energy in our lives that keeps our days warm and our evenings bright! And let's also give thanks for all the people who work to provide the energy we need, and for those building the clean and renewable energy that will power our world for generations to come.

Career Fair Guidance

Thinking of organizing a career fair for your school or region? KEEP is a frequent exhibitor at career fairs, and has learned a lot over the years about what makes a fair run smoothly and gives guests the best experience.

Expand pathways with the GHS Badge

Is your classroom, school or district doing incredible work, but you don't always have a way to document, celebrate and share it? Green and Healthy Schools' Earn a Badge Program provides a way to recognize progress and connect your initiatives to sustainability and wellness goals.

This month's spotlights include the Green Career Navigators Badge.

Last Call for Fall Green Team Mini-Grant ideas!

Green Team Mini-Grant idea forms are due November 6!

Encourage your student green teams to submit their idea for an energy-related project to start the Mini-Grant application process! Projects should relate to energy and either reduce the school community's carbon footprint or educate the team and their school about energy topics.

We can't wait to see your students' project ideas!

After submitting their idea, students will meet with KEEP staff to expand on their plan, then submit a project application by December 11. Funded projects will receive $300 - $700 in January.

For more information, visit the Green Team Mini-Grants webpage or email Heather Phelps at hphelps@uwsp.edu.

KidWind registration closing soon!

Wisconsin KidWind Challenge registration closes November 15!

This is an incredible opportunity for students to dive into solar and wind energy, and build their engineering, design and problem-solving skills.

Make sure to get your teams of students in grades 3-12 signed up! New this year, teams compete in a regional challenge in Oak Creek or Eau Claire in February, with qualifying teams continuing to the state competition in Madison on March 13, 2027.

Turn STEM into STEAM with the KidWind Art Challenge!

The Wisconsin Youth Climate Conference is November 14th! This one-day conference is led by youth for youth, with students in 8th grade, high school, and college invited to attend to learn about climate action and connect with peers from around the state!

Registration and food are free, and teams which exhibit or present about what they've accomplished will receive a $100 honorarium. Teachers may attend if accompanying students.

Energy Educator of the Year

Time to brag! Doing something electrifying with energy education? Know someone whose students just light up for learning? Nominate yourself or someone you know for the Energy Educator of the Year Award! Nominations are due December 31.

Renew Our Schools

The fall Renew Our Schools competition is underway, with six schools across the state competing to save energy and save the planet! No need to sit on the sidelines – sign-ups are now open for the spring competition, and we'd love to see how many kilowatt-hours your school can save!

AgriSolar Materials

The third week in November is Geography Awareness Week, which makes it a good moment to consider how human activity and the natural world interact, particularly in land use decisions such as solar array siting.

KEEP's AgriSolar lesson collection and AgriSolar Kit help students explore the timely topic of ensuring our clean energy solutions simultaneously support Wisconsin's agricultural heritage and identity. Check out these materials today to inspire your students to learn about the exciting new field of agrivoltaics.
