Dear Friends and Families,
With the first few weeks of school underway and as we head towards Rosh Hashanah, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support. The generosity of donors like you help ensure that we have a balanced budget and can focus on the important work of educating our students. We can’t thank you enough!
Stable enrollment at an increase from last year combined with robust fundraising, and access to grants enabled our Board of Trustees to approve a 4% pay increase for our teachers, our most valuable resource. We can’t say enough about how much we appreciate the dedicated teachers who care for our children’s academic, spiritual, emotional, and social growth.
We want to particularly point out the many ways to invest in Columbus Torah Academy and hope that we can continue to count on your contributions.
Annual Fund
Making a gift each year supports our operating budget and is a direct investment in the educational product of our school. Funds go to recruit, retain, and support our teachers and staff, advance our learning with updated curriculums, technology, and educational resources, and maintain our beautiful campus. The Spring Fundraiser, a 36 hour online matching campaign Giving Day, launches the Annual Fund each year and ongoing gifts can be made through tributes, sponsored days of learning, and special projects. Save the Date for May 15-16, 2024!
Scholarship Fund
Providing the opportunity for a Jewish education to all children in central Ohio within the limits of our educational and financial resources is a central tenet of our mission. To accomplish this, we offer assistance through a needs based tuition assistance program through our Scholarship Fund. Funded by direct donations, the Ohio EdChoice Scholarship program, and the Ohio Tax Credit Program, individuals and corporations can support student tuition through these programs and through advertising in the Scholarship Dinner Journal. Save the date for the can’t miss gala event on Sunday, December 10, 2023!
Endowment Fund
Held primarily by the Columbus Jewish Foundation at JewishColumbus, the CTA Endowment is an investment fund that yields contributions back to the school each year. Knowing that the principle in the Endowment Fund remains intact ensures that future generations can rely on a strong CTA. In the last few years, CTA has reached all of the benchmarks in partnership with JewishColumbus and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s Life & Legacy program. We have added commitments to the Endowment through newly established funds and bequests and perpetuated the legacy of our donors through the endowment fund.
Ohio Scholarship Donation Credit
New legislation in 2022 in the state of Ohio established Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO) which established a way for individuals and pass through entities to make donate their Ohio taxes to K-12 private schools. This unique program allows every Ohio taxpayer to contribute up to $750 for an individual or $1500 for a couple filing jointly, to make a donation through an SGO to benefit a selected private school like Columbus Torah Academy. In 2023, these donations directly benefitted our Scholarship Fund and allowed other funds to be put back into education. Click here to receive a reminder to make your tax credit donation to CTA this year.
Every gift to CTA is an investment in our community's children. If you haven’t been to visit the school in a while or just need a boost and a smile, please contact either of us to set up a tour. It’s truly an invigorating experience to see the eager students and devoted teachers engaged in learning.
Wishing you a happy and healthy Shana Tovah!
Sincerely,
Rabbi Avrohom Drandoff
