INDUSTRY LEADING IN ALL WE DO
Trouble viewing this newsletter? Click here
We had a weekend for the record books with the success of the Wheels for Warmth event and the long-awaited return of the Rutland Halloween Parade.

Every year, it takes an incredible amount of work to pull off these two back-to-back events, and none of it would be possible without this team. Everyone here plays a role in some way or another. Whether you helped with organizing the events, building our parade float, donating tires, volunteering your time and efforts to the events, or picking up extra work while your co-workers were taking on tasks associated with these events - it truly takes a village to make it work.

Thank you for showing up and exemplifying what it means to be industry leading in all we do.
Wheels for Warmth
We had our most successful Wheels for Warmth event to date! On Thursday, we set a new 1-day collection record with 536 sellable tires, and we raised the most money to date at our tire sale on Saturday!
As you all know, Wheels for Warmth is a completely volunteer-driven event, and requires effort well beyond just the 3-days of collection/sales. Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped out. The community has much to celebrate because of the success of this program, and it wouldn't be possible without all of you.

Rutland Halloween Parade
After 7 years and many trophies later, we finally won best in show (1st place) in the Halloween parade!
Like Wheels for Warmth, our participation in the Rutland Halloween Parade is made possible by those of you who volunteer your time to come up with our concept, spend weeks building the float, and participate in the parade.
We are so excited for this hard-earned 1st place win! Congrats to all!

Good Catch / Near Miss Program
Our Good Catch/Near Miss Program has been providing great information that has helped us to identify issues and avoid accidents and injuries throughout 2022. Year to date, we have had 23 less accidents and 3 less injuries than we did in 2021, which is thanks to all of the hazards you are identifying in the field.
Keep up the great work by continuing to identify and discuss hazards throughout your projects, and communicate them with each other. Things change on site from task to task and site to site as you move around. If someone has been on site or has been performing a task for longer than you, don't be afraid to ask what hazards they look out for, and if there is anything you should know. Continue to submit your good catches, and you may be a recipient of the $100 Visa Gift Card that is awarded monthly.
Don't forget about our Leaders in Safety Program as well. Leaders in Safety are able to nominate someone else that they believe fits the criteria of:
  • Upholding Casella Construction Standards
  • Actively Caring for People (AC4P!)
  • Leading by Example
  • Training and Developing Top Talent
Recognition - one of the four key pillars of our safety program:
Training, Execution, Wellness, Recognition
Can you answer the question from this week's safety discussion?
Which is the correct statement?
It is better to talk about safety a little bit every day
It is better to have an in-depth talk about safety once in a while
