On behalf of CASA of Contra Costa County and our event committee, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all who participated at our annual fundraising gala, Evening of Promise, in our beautiful new location, the Round Hill Country Club. This was by far our most successful fundraising event ever! It was truly amazing to be surrounded by people who were touched by our mission and our story.

One of the many inspiring moments of the evening was the presentation of the Light of Hope Awards, given for outstanding service to the community:
Kathleen Odne of the Dean and Margaret Lesher Foundation received the Light of Hope Legacy Award for her 23 years as the Foundation’s Executive Director and her work to support underserved communities, including the abused and neglected children that CASA serves.
The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors was a recipient of the Light of Hope Award for Public Service for collectively building a support network of services for the most vulnerable members of our community, including the foster children CASA serves.
Chevron Corporation received the Light of Hope Award for Outstanding Community Benefit for investing in economic development, education, youth and public safety as well as civic and community organizations in Contra Costa County, including CASA.
One of the most touching moments of the event was the video presentation “Matthew Cawley: Portrait of Resilience”, a story of a foster child growing up homeless, and navigating the intricate and challenging world of foster care system with his CASA volunteer by his side. Matthew’s powerful words that night deeply moved the audience. Once again, we witnessed testimony to the power of CASA and the immense value of his CASA volunteer, Allison Tabor, who provided a reliable presence and encouraging voice in his life. Please see the video below.

The energy of the event, engagement and charisma of our auctioneer created an atmosphere of giving. Our live auction raised $27,700 which is 58% higher than last year, and our Help a Child raised $97,450 which is a 78% increase over last year. What an incredible feat!

The Gala netted approximately $235,000, which will allow us to expand our program to serve abused and neglected children in Contra Costa County by 32% this year.

Finally, we are grateful to all our sponsors. Without you this event and our mission would be impossible. We are looking forward to seeing you next year!
