Updates to your WA State Driver's License
A new look is coming to your Washington driver's license that includes the phrase "Federal Limits Apply" and a new number formatting.

The new phrase identifies standard licenses that do not comply with the Real ID Act.

The new numbering system enhances privacy by using a randomly generated number not related to your name or date of Birth.

Introducing the new voice on the phone, Sheila! Sheila is located at the front desk in the University Place office as our Administrative Coordinator. She likes to knit, garden, cook, bake, and root on our Mariners. She and husband Mike love being outdoors and hiking.
Introducing our new Commercial Lines Account Manager, Jennifer! She’s been in insurance for 10 years with experience working for a carrier, wholesaler, and retail agency. She has 2 kids and a new fiancé. They love to go over to the beach and surf or skim board, camp, hike, do crafty things, and play lacrosse.
Kendra went to visit the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety’s Vehicle Research Center in Virginia.

Three takeaways from the experience:
1. PEMCO (and our industry) through IIHS has improved vehicle safety in the United States.
2. Data, coupled with drives on the test track, show the promise of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) – and some of the limitations.
3. The data also showed that we can expect repair costs for these systems will cause an increase in auto insurance premiums, until enough ADAS are on the roads to decrease frequency at a level to overcome the higher severity.
