A Simple Thank You is Not Enough...
Dear friends and family,
A simple thank you is not enough to express our gratitude. Your support has allowed research to move forward. We faced 2018 in fear and guarded hope. Now, we look forward to 2019 with clinical trials planned to allow Charleston and children like him a chance for a normal life. But our work is not done until every child receives a treatment and Batten disease is cured.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and Holiday season. Thank you for your continued support.
Mike, Jo, Maximillian, Charleston, Augustus, Leuthar and Henryk
Thank you for making 2018 a year of HOPE!

Our Story
"We thought nothing bad could ever happen to us again, simply because nothing is as heartbreaking as the death of one’s own child."

- Jo & Mike Klein, Parents
Six years after unexpectedly losing their three year old, Max, to an unrelated condition, Jo and Mike Klein learned the devastating news that their second oldest son, Charleston, has juvenile Batten disease. Learn more about the Klein family by visiting  bindupbatten.org or follow us social media.

Building Hope
When George Macsay, Charlie's great-grandpa, learned of his great-grandson's disease, he saw an opportunity to combine his two passions in life - supporting his family and building birdhouses. George, an avid birdhouse carpenter, regularly builds and sells one-of-kind birdhouses with all sales supporting Bind Up Batten and research into treatments and cures for Batten disease.
