A huge thanks to all of our amazing volunteers at the fall concert on Tuesday. You helped make it a success!

All-State Applications Due Nov. 27
All-State honor group auditions are due at Samohi no later than Tuesday, November 27th. Click here for more information.

Marching Band Schedule
Monday-Friday: 7 am rehearsals
Thursday, Nov. 8: Valencia Field Tournament (students depart from school around lunchtime and return to Samohi in the evening)
Friday, Nov. 9: Rehearsals, 7-8 am and 4-7 pm
Saturday, Nov. 10: Savanna Field Tournament in Anaheim
Sunday, Nov. 11: Gig/Volunteer Opportunity @ Aga Khan Walk
Monday, Nov. 12: [ VETERAN'S DAY ] Rehearsal TBD
Two Tournaments This Week!
Busy, busy: The Viking Marching Band + Color Guard has a comp etition this Thursday in Valencia and this Saturday in Anaheim.

On Thursday, Nov. 8, students will leave directly from school for the Valencia High School Field Tournament. Students will load up the trucks during lunch and be excused for 5th and 6th periods, leaving campus at around 1:30 pm. Pickup will be at Samohi in the evening, around 10 or 11 pm. PLEASE NOTE: For the Thursday competition only, your student should wear their navy blue "retro" shirt.
Then on Saturday, Nov. 10, the kids will head to the Savanna Field Tournament in Anaheim. As usual, you will receive a school bus email a few days out with all the details for each tournament.

Brag Sheet Opportunity
Mr. McKeown seeks marching band volunteers to perform at the Aga Khan Foundation Walk|Run on Sunday, November 11 (the morning after the Savanna comp). Call time is approximately 9:00 am at Samohi; students will walk to the Santa Monica Pier with their instruments. Musicians can earn volunteer hours, and it's for a good cause! Students should tell Mr. McKeown in class or via email if they would like to participate.
FUNDRAISING
Help Out with Bands at the Broad!
Our 7th annual Bands at the Broad concert and fundraiser is coming up on Tuesday, February 5. This enchanted evening features a special performance by Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble in the beautiful Broad Theater, with wine, cupcakes, and a silent auction.
For this important fundraiser, we would like each family to bring in two auction items and at least one bottle of wine valued at $30 or more. See more info, sponsorship letters, and donation forms here. Let's make this the best Bands at the Broad yet!

Bands at the Broad benefits the Samohi Band touring programs. Money raised helps all students by covering the costs of the tour as well as providing scholarships for students who need them.
