Thank You to Our Recent Donors!
We would like to extend our gratitude to Frost Bank and Dominium for each awarding TSAHC $5,000 grants in support of the Texas Supportive Housing Institute. With these generous contributions, Frost Bank and Dominium are directly supporting programs that help vulnerable Texas' most vulnerable residents lead healthier and more stable lives. Thank you both for your support of the Institute!

The Institute provides in-depth training and technical assistance to developers, service providers and property managers interested in creating and operating supportive housing in their communities.

Offered in partnership with the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH), this free institute will take place September 2021 to January 2022 and will assist teams from across Texas. We’re proud to announce the following teams have been selected to participate in the 2021 Institute as Full Participants:

We’re also excited to announce the following two teams will be joining the Institute as Limited Participants: The Reclamation Project in Fort Worth, Texas and Settegast Heights Redevelopment Corporation in Houston, Texas.
TSAHC is Searching for New Properties
We are searching for new property to acquire as part of our ACT land bank program. We are also seeking new partnerships with local housing developers to expand affordable homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income households.

Once properties are acquired by TSAHC, we will contract with local housing developers to finance the redevelopment of the property. When the home is complete, the local housing developer will assist in identifying an income and mortgage eligible household.

Target counties include Bexar, Atascosa, Webb, Hidalgo, Cameron, and Val Verde, though other counties may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

If you are interested in learning more about this partnership program and have identified a property for ACT land bank consideration, please visit our website and contact staff at actinfo@tsahc.org.

The 2021 report, which uses data from the January 2020 Point-in-Time Count, found there were 580,466 people experiencing homelessness in America before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Latest “Out of Reach” Report Documents Housing Struggles Low-Wage Earners Face
Every year the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) releases its annual ‘Out of Reach’ report comparing rental housing prices with hourly wages of renters.

The most recent numbers paint a bleak picture for low-wage earners trying to secure affordable housing. According to the 2021 report, on a national level, minimum wage workers must work 97 hours a week to afford the fair market rent (FMR) of $1,295 for a modest, two-bedroom apartment.
