Like most children, Shaffer, a 7-year old student in the Forest Hills School District, couldn't wait to celebrate her birthday. However, she wanted to do something important for her community, "My mom told me about IPM, and I really wanted to help."
Schaffer hosted a party for twenty friends at
in Anderson, "I love climbing the rock wall, but my favorite part of my birthday was eating the cake!" She asked all of her friends to bring something to donate to IPM instead of providing presents for her.
Shaffer's mom Maggie told us, "Her birthday is so close to Christmas that she really doesn't need more gifts. It is a time to think of others, and it's something easy for people to do. It feels so good around the holidays. Shaffer's friends were excited about it! Many of them brought BOXES full of food for IPM!"
