Our volunteers have been hard at work lately, helping Shonbray Johnson build her future Habitat home! Together, we have installed the siding, trim, windows, and doors and even started painting the exterior of the home, too. Despite a rain delay last weekend, we are on track to finish painting the exterior of the home and start installing the drywall this week.

Thanks to amazing leadership from our Construction Manager, Adam Abujohar, and two volunteer House Leads, Mike Howard and Rich Totilo, for ensuring our 107th home is built efficiently and safely and passing all inspections!
We are so thankful to be recognized by Bank of America as an organization doing critical work in the Dallas-Ft. Worth community. This month we received one of its $10,000 Bank of America Grants!

Bank of America is helping addressing needs related to affordable housing, small business and neighborhood revitalization to strengthen our DFW community by directing grant funding to Habitat for Humanity of Denton County. The bank's grant and partnership will allow Habitat Denton to continue our mission of building affordable homes alongside local families and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty in our community. Specifically, we will be able to build the Habitat Village, an 8-acre affordable housing development in Denton where 35 families will build and own their homes for the first time - a solid foundation on which to build their future from a place of stability and independence.
With the constantly changing economic and health landscapes, charitable grants and fundraising are critical to supporting nonprofits like us. Bank of America has consistently worked with nonprofit partners, local organizations and leaders across public and private sectors in Dallas-Ft. Worth to help drive economic mobility and social progress for vulnerable populations. Philanthropic investments like this are just one way Bank of America deploys capital locally to help remove barriers to economic success and build a more sustainable community. Last year, the bank's 13,610 North Texas-area teammates pitched in roughly 95,000 volunteer hours.

Thank you, Bank of America!
At our October Board meeting, we honored and celebrated Bunny Hodges for Ruth's Room's $2.3 million donated to Habitat Denton since 2000!

Ruth's Room is a thrift store in Denton with a unique mission to support the work of Habitat for Humanity of Denton County. Since their opening in 2000, Ruth's Room has donated over $2.3 million of their proceeds to Habitat Denton. We are grateful to know and partner with Bunny Hodges, founder and owner of Ruth's Room, who was also one of the founding Board members of Habitat Denton in 1994!

Ruth's Room is a sponsor of each of our Habitat homes. At the Groundbreaking Ceremony of our 106th home in December 2021, Bunny said, "I can't think of any reason not to support Habitat!"

Ruth's Room holds fast to their mission to support Habitat's work in building homes, communities, and hope in Denton County, and we are so grateful. They also renovated their store within the last year, and it looks incredible. Shop at Ruth's Room today to see for yourself!

We are raising funds to develop 8 acres of vacant land in Southeast Denton and establish a new "Habitat Village" housing development on the property. As many as 35 new affordable homes will be built alongside local families in need via this development. This project involves developing the infrastructure of this neighborhood, including the streets, sidewalks, utilities, proper drainage requirements, and everything else needed to support a neighborhood of 35 homes.

The majority of our funds are raised by local individuals and local organizations, so we are relying on YOUR continued support to carry us forward. Would you consider making a gift to the Habitat Village today?
