A Message from Sarah Smith, UCE-USA Director
"Thank you UCE team for coming to our school for the first time, but where were you earlier?"

When I read these words from a Burundi student, I realized once again how urgently the UCE chastity message is needed and how UCE continues to make an outstanding difference in the lives of youth.

In this issue, I would like to share a sampling of pictures and testimonies from what I have received from each of our programs so far this year. Note especially the thank you letter from the UCE-Kasese team. We all thank you for making UCE's healthy, pro-life message possible.

The UCE ministry continues to thrive due to your financial support and despite global challenges. Please continue to help UCE reach more youth sooner, as the Burundi student asked. God Bless you.

UCE-Masaka, UGANDA
After Uganda's school lockdown for nearly a year, the UCE teams resumed going to schools for chastity education outreaches. The challenges of the year included rain and poor road conditions and an increase in domestic abuse and teen pregnancies during the lockdown. One student described, "The lockdown was so boring. I was also disturbed by boys and older men, but when I reported it to my mother, they never disturbed me again. Because of the UCE message, I got the courage and signed the card to show men and boys to wait until the right time."
UCE-Tanzania
UCE outreaches continued to area churches and community groups. A key event earlier this year was the celebration of UCE Club graduations for the Form 6 students. Form 6 is the highest level of secondary education, with many of these students going on to the University where they will become the future leaders of Tanzania.
UCE-BURUNDI
After a March outreach to Kiderege Fundamental School where 308 students signed UCE chastity commitment cards, the headmaster shared how he had been looking for help to correct the incidence of HIV, STDs, abortion, suicide, dropouts and teen pregnancies. A student stood up and said, "UCE team, thank you for coming to our school for the first time, but where were you earlier? I confess that I have committed sexual contact and I regret that. I did it because of the influence of my friends who told me it is good... May God forgive me and encourage my brothers to never fall into the same trap. I was touched and pledge to never commit it again."
UCE-Kasese
"We, the UCE-Kasese team, thank the UCE directors and funders who enable the UCE message to reach and save souls here and in Africa. Without the life-saving UCE message, where would our young people be?

"Kasese used to be among the high ranking districts in Uganda for HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancies, early marriages, school dropouts, forced marriages, and polygamy. We are happy to say that through UCE outreaches, UCE radio shows, UCE Clubs and UCE Sports, people have changed their sexual behavior to abstinence and faithful marriage. Schools, institutions and youth groups have embraced UCE so much.

"Last year due to the COVID-19 lockdown, most students were idle at home which resulted in an increase of sexual activity and pregnancies and STDs. But in the schools that had had a UCE outreach, when they returned from lockdown, 95% of the schools had ZERO pregnancy cases. The remaining 5% had only 1-2 students who were reported pregnant.

"May the good Lord continue enriching our UCE directors, Drs. Ken and Kim, and funders' pockets so that the UCE ministry can continue to reach more souls."
