Dear Barrington 220 Community,
First and foremost, I want to say thank you. Based on preliminary results, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, registered voters in the Barrington 220 community passed a $64 million bond referendum, which will positively impact the future of our schools.
According to preliminary results, the question was approved by voters with 54.6% YES votes and 45.4% NO votes.
This vote is the culmination of a significant community engagement process conducted during the first half of 2024. The process involved several community meetings, phone surveys, online surveys, and forming a Referendum Advisory Committee. You can click here to learn more about the process.
Thanks to everyone who participated, we were able to create a community-driven plan that will provide our district with the opportunity to:
- Increase Safety & Security throughout Barrington 220
- Build a New Community Auditorium at Barrington High School
- Enhance STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) and Instructional Spaces for Students
The first step will be for the Board of Education to identify an architectural firm and construction management company. Once those partners are selected, a construction timeline will be established and shared with our school community.
Thank you again for your support at the polls, which will ensure Barrington 220 remains a destination school district now and in the future.
