Prometheus Volunteer Day - Thank You!
Much appreciation and thanks to the Prometheus volunteers and supporting partners who worked tirelessly on Thursday, March 31st to renovate LifeMoves' Julian Street Inn in San Jose. LifeMoves is committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness and  is one of the largest and most effective providers of shelter and supportive services across Silicon Valley and the Peninsula. Their  Julian Street facility provides interim shelter and services for 71 homeless adults seeking mental health stability, including veterans.

Over 40 Promethean volunteers and multi-family industry partners painted a two tone color scheme in five sleeping rooms, built new privacy partitions for cots,  installed blinds and shelving in sleeping berths, replaced  flooring throughout the dining hall , freshened the front and courtyard landscaping, installed new interior signage and much more.  When guests of the Julian Street shelter returned home at the end of the day, one client stated, " My favorite part of the renovation was: all of it."

Our sincere thanks goes to our Promethean friends  and  industry partners who made this project possible! The repairs and improvements  made at LifeMoves will positively impact the quality  of life for the 71 men and women residing a t the Julian Street Inn. Thank you to the following companies for their generous donations of materials and labor to this worthy project: CORT , HD Supply , IBI , IQV Construction , Mannington Flooring , Medallion Landscape , Pierce Signs & Displays , ProFloors , Sherwin-Williams , and Varsity Painting . We couldn't have made such a substantial transformation to this facility without all of your commitment to HIF and your community!

This Silicon Valley Gives Day, you can help us raise $50,000 to help people like Sam, an Air Force Veteran who moved to the Bay Area from Texas with his children after the sudden passing of his wife. A $2,500 grant from HIF allowed Sam to afford a security deposit for an apartment close to friends, an apartment out of reach with his military benefits alone.

Since moving into his new home, Sam has enrolled in a local college to pursue a degree in Psychology and Social Action and wants to be a true role model for his sons, who will also be thinking of college soon.
