Every summer, Redwood City Public Library welcomes local high school students as Summer Interns to build workforce skills and gain hands-on experience supporting Library programs.
This year’s interns — Andrew, Brianna, Chelsea and Julio — truly shined! With warm smiles and can-do attitudes, they assisted at programs across Redwood City, handed out free books and prizes, held snakes, danced the samba and helped teach kids robotics and coding.
The summer wrapped up with a vibrant celebration on Saturday, August 2, as the Downtown Library came alive with families, fun and festivity. The Summer Splash & Back to School Bash was entirely planned and hosted by our talented interns, who brought their energy and creativity to every detail. Guests enjoyed a dynamic performance by Master Percussionist James Henry, classic lawn games, cotton candy, a Friends of the Library book sale and a special meet-and-greet with Redwood City School District Librarians. It was a joyful send-off to the season — and a proud moment for our interns, who successfully led a multi-faceted community event from start to finish.
A huge thank-you to our Summer Interns for all you’ve done to support the Library and our community! If you know a teen who might want to join the team, keep an eye out for next year’s internship announcement in March.
