If your family could use some extra support, please reach out to your student’s counselor — we’re here to help connect you with available resources. Click HERE to explore more ways FCPS supports families in need.
You can also help other Marshall families by donating Lidl gift cards in $25 increments or contributing directly to the Marshall Market. Generosity Guild Book Drive
Generosity Guild is a student-led 501(c)(3) global nonprofit that empowers youth to make a difference through kindness, service, and community action. We organize seasonal drives, collecting essentials like hygiene kits, food, clothing, and school supplies for those in need, and partner with schools, businesses, and organizations to maximize impact. Right now, we're collecting gently used books for Title 1 schools across FCPS: schools with many students from low-income families. Every book donated helps give a child the chance to explore, imagine, and learn. It would mean a lot if you could support the drive by donating books you no longer need. Together, we can share the joy of reading and make a real difference in our community!'

Silvia Montes– Spanish Teacher What do you enjoy most about your job? What I enjoy most is getting to know my students and sharing my culture with them. I love seeing students develop a passion for language and culture, knowing that these skills will open doors and enrich their lives for years to come.
Do you have a hidden talent or hobby outside of school? When I was younger, I loved painting and was quite skilled, and I hope to return to it someday.
If you weren’t in education, what would you be doing instead? I would probably be a social worker because I enjoy helping people and giving them advice.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go to Italy because all the food sounds amazing—the pasta, the gelato! I might be going this summer, and I’m super excited!
What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday? Sleeping in a little, going on a beautiful hike with my dog Luna and some friends, followed by a delicious brunch or lunch.
What advice would you give to students about making the most of high school? Join as many clubs or sports that you love! It’s a great way to meet like-minded people and make long-lasting friends.
What’s one thing you hope students take away from your class or role? I want them to walk away with a love of language and culture and to feel inspired to keep learning and traveling, so they can experience how beautiful the world and other cultures are, and see how knowing another language helps them connect with so many more people.
If your students gave you a “superlative” (like in the yearbook), what would it be? Kindest teacher
If you could give one piece of advice to Marshall parents, what would it be? Be patient and give your child grace, because this time in their life can be stressful. At the same time, continue teaching them respect and the value of hard work, so they develop strong character while feeling supported.
What’s one thing parents can do at home to support their student’s success? Make sure their children do homework with purpose and stay involved in their learning. This is especially important in Spanish, where parents can practice or review with their child and even learn something new together!
