Hello youth and families.

Thank you all for the wonderful help Wednesday evening with prepping for, serving and cleaning up from our community meal! You were all amazing and that was a great time of joyful service together! Also, "Youth Group Night" on Saturday was a wonderful time! Thanks to everyone who joined. It seemed like all of the different groups did a good bit of intermingling and everyone had a good time. Also, the musical worship set was a blessing! Thank you to those who helped lead worship!

Last night in youth group we learned about and practiced the method of praying through Scripture. We read several passages slowly, inserted ourselves into the verses and prayed them to the Lord. On another note, if you haven't been discerning already, I encourage youth to prayerfully consider if you'd like to apply for the 2027 mission trip. Please reach out to me if you have questions, or would simply like to hear more about the trip.

ACCEPTING 2027 MISSION TRIP APPLICATIONS

We are very excited to roll out our invitation to join our HBIC Youth 2027 Local Mission Trip! Our trip is planned for June 21-26, 2027 and we will be serving various organizations here in Harrisburg! Organizations we have partnered with in the past include Bethesda Mission, Brethren Housing Association, Paxton Ministries, Christian Churches United and Samara. We also hope to serve some of our HBIC congregants by helping complete smaller needed projects in their homes. Additionally, we often do some fun activities in the evenings together as a team.

Youth and leaders will likely sleep in homes of leaders/parents to have access to showers. (In the past, we’ve had 3 or 4 smaller groups of the team each housed at a different location.) The cost of this year’s trip is $800 with youth working to raise half of that cost ($400) through raising support. The cost will help cover food for our youth, materials and supplies for our service tasks, some fun activities for our youth and also we aim to give each organization we serve a donation check toward their continued ministry.

Youth, we invite you to prayerfully consider if you would like to be a part of this mission team. If you decide you would like to apply, please follow the button below for the online application.

Applications are due by November 11th, 2026. Youth who apply will be invited to virtual interviews in the month of November.

SENIOR HIGH RETREAT - MOMENTUM

All youth in grades 9 through 12 are invited to join us for Momentum! Momentum is a high school youth retreat for the Atlantic Conference happening November 13th - 15th and will again be held at Kenbrook Bible Camp. The cost of the retreat to our HBIC youth is $75. (The actual cost per youth is $149 and HBIC will be paying a portion of each youth's registration cost.) The cost covers food, lodging and all of the activities.

Registration is now open! This year, you will register through us (HBIC) and we'll be passing along our registrant info to Kenbrook. Please register your youth via the first link below. Additionally, we will need a printed and signed copy of Kenbrook's Consent and Release form for each participant (linked in the second button below). I plan to have printed copies of the release on hand in upcoming youth gatherings to send home. Please register by November 4th.

HELP WITH PARENTS' NIGHT OUT

The Fellowship Team is hosting a parents' night out for parents of young children. This event is at HBIC on December 12th from 5-8pm. They've invited the youth to help care for the children! Youth will be tasked with helping to care for the children, play games with them and help them do a craft activity. This will be a blessing to our parents and families! Email Nicole Hull if you're interested in helping out.

YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL

We are reminding everyone here, we are shifting Youth Sunday School to only 2nd and 4th Sundays. For November, we will have Sunday School on 1st and 4th Sundays. (The 2nd Sunday is mission Sunday!)

With the upstairs area approved for occupancy, youth Sunday School will be meeting in the common area (open space in the middle) of our newly finished upstairs! Currently, the path within the church to the upstairs is not accessible to the general public, so we will again be meeting in the lobby to walk upstairs together via the outside.
