Lakeville in the news

What's behind Lakeville's restaurant and bar boom

Before he opened Lakeville Brewing Company in 2016, Don Seiler and his wife spent many weekends driving 30 miles to the Twin Cities for a craft beer.

  • "What was missing in Lakeville was anything close to a unique local restaurant spot," he recalled. "There was an Applebee's."

Today, he has no shortage of options — and competition — in the suburb's downtown corridor.

At least eight additional dining, drinking, or entertainment spots have opened in an area spanning several blocks since Seiler and his partners hatched plans to open the brewpub in a former VFW in the heart of historic downtown.

Both schools are now united under Extension Services at Lakeville Area Schools. CALLING ALL CYCLISTS!

A community bike ride is planned for Saturday September 16th and you can be part of it! Enjoy the trails and bike lanes on the Tour of Lakeville, beginning at 9 am at Pioneer Plaza in Downtown Lakeville.

The route changes each year so riders experience different parts of the city and use new trails. This FREE ride is a collaboration between Lakeville Friends of the Environment and the City of Lakeville Parks and Recreation. Distances: 3 mile, family friendly ride or an 18-mile loop.

Join us and gain a new perspective on the town’s beauty and its closeness to nature and art.

After the ride, check out the Lakeville Art Festival at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, just down the street from Pioneer Park where your ride will end.
