WELCOME!

The League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area

Welcome!

We're so pleased that you have joined LWV Charleston, a civic organization whose members from Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley Counties are committed to defending democracy together. We are launching this new 'Welcome' letter today by sending it to all who have joined our League since July 1.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots nonprofit working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure that everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacyeducation, and litigation at the local, state, and national levels.

Right from the start, we want you to know that you are our greatest asset. Your membership matters because you matter — your voice, presence, and support of the League’s mission to empower voters and defend democracy.

PARTICIPATION — YOUR WAY

There is no required level of involvement. Some of our 230+ members (both women and men) dive into League work right away. Others participate occasionally, coming to member meetings or attending events. Some support the League primarily by contributing funds or paying dues — and all of these activities are invaluable.

VOLUNTEER AND LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The League is an all-volunteer member-led organization, and we are always interested in hearing from those who may want to serve in volunteer roles: as project volunteers, committee members, and ultimately in Board leadership. Please click the member survey tab at the end of this email to tell us more about your interests!
