Ray-Pec Parent Community,

We have had a really good start to the school year, both from an in-person and in-ViPR perspective! We welcomed back nearly 4,900 students to in-person learning and another 1,400 to the in-ViPR learning experience. To be able to do that in the current reality in which we find ourselves is a huge reason to celebrate. While there are issues we continue to work on, we must not overlook the success of this moment. To every teacher, support team member, administrator, parent/guardian, and student, thank you for your patience and grace as we continue to take each day as a new adventure. You all rocked it this week!

Parents/guardians, this part of my message is especially for you. Our teachers and support staff have worked incredibly hard getting ready for your child’s return. I have seen first-hand the long hours spent by our teams preparing our classrooms, buildings and ViPR for student learning. Along with new procedures and new tasks, there is a tremendous amount of new learning being asked of our teams. It was no small feat what we were able to accomplish this week. If you have a moment soon, I ask you to reach out to the teachers, support team members, and administrators at your child’s school to tell them thank you. This year is a year unlike any other, and the more we can lift each other up with patience and grace will not only make the year go smoother, it is a great model for our children to see and hear. Thank you for that consideration.

And, as always, thank you for entrusting your children to the Ray-Pec School District,

Mike Slagle
