Thank You South Bay Community

Over 14,000 Meals Donated!

Last Thursday, Nov 9th, was an incredible celebration as the community came together to celebrate Six decades of empathy in action at the Volunteer Center. Thank you to the Chamber, Mayor Chen, Torrance City Council, and many of our community leaders for donating, volunteering, and celebrating this significant milestone with us. Your presence made this event truly special. Cheers to more milestones as we continue to meet urgent needs in our community through empathy, kindness, and volunteerism. We are forever grateful to all of YOU!

Our Center Upgrades...

Our Torrance center was purchased in 1993 through the generous donation of the South Bay community in honor of our retired CEO, De De Hicks. The recent upgrades are a testament to our commitment to remain a vital center for volunteerism in South Bay. A special thanks to Denise Beggs (Board Secretary) and Sandy Montalvo (Vice President of Operations) for their tireless work upgrading our building, roof, and parking lot! The results look amazing in beautiful Oldtown Torrance.

We are grateful to each of you for your generous contributions to Food For Kids.

For 60 years, the Volunteer Center has been a vital and trusted partner mobilizing support for those in need throughout the South Bay, Harbor, and Long Beach communities. Our approach and programs have evolved as times have changed, but our focus on deeply rooted relationships and a spirit of cooperation has never wavered. We are still here today because of partners like you who volunteer with your time, and in-kind or monetary donations.

Currently, our Food For Kids program operates at a cost of about 51 cents a meal, monetary contributions of any amount can go a long way in delivering meals directly to students in need. Thank you for considering the volunteer Center as part of your end of the year giving.
