Cleves Service Department Projects in the Village

The Village Service Department had a challenging week due to the amount of rain we received; however, we were able to complete trimming grass and unkept right-of-ways on Spring Street, Howell, Elliot, Maiden, and Marion.

On Monday, September 29, the Service Department will collect trash from the weekend's activities in Cleves Community Park and cut the grass to prepare for next Saturday's soccer games. We also installed signs to close the walking and bike trail due to the silt remaining from last spring's floods. We apologize for the inconvenience; however, we do not have the manpower or time to address this further for this season.

We were able to trim back the grass along Morgan Creek Ditch. Notice in the pictures that follow, we have purposely created a border along the bank line. This process may not look as neat as in the past; however, it is designed to slow the water's path into the ditch and to prevent erosion of the bank line.

The Service Department’s schedule for the remainder of the week includes several key maintenance tasks along U.S. 50 and throughout the Village. On Wednesday, crews will cut grass and pick up trash along the highway corridor. Thursday’s focus will be on trimming back overgrown trees and bushes encroaching on the bike trail to improve visibility and safety. On Friday, staff will empty trash cans in the business district and at the Park, and return to U.S. 50 to touch up any areas missed earlier in the week.
