Inspiring Students. Developing Teachers.
Together, we are Breakthrough Manchester!
Thank you for making BTM's 31st summer stellar!
"On the first day of School Alex ran up to me and said I changed his life. Of course, I asked how and he said recommending Breakthrough. I laughed, as it was clearly not me, but rather Breakthrough which was the game changer. All day long I heard the cheers and stories of how great it was. One of my students even said it made her nicer!!
I have never heard such rave reviews.
They can’t wait to return next summer!”

“Reach for the Stars” to College and Beyond!
With a theme of Astronomy, Breakthrough Students and Teaching Fellows set out this summer to “Reach for the Stars!” The Derryfield Middle School was transformed into outer space complete with a solar system, aliens, and spaceships. Our 89 students and 23 Teaching Fellows were so happy to be fully back on campus together for the first time in three summers!

Breakthrough 2020 was fully remote and 2021 was hybrid, therefore, our ninth graders had their final and best Breakthrough summer yet! It will be bittersweet for them to move on to the Breakthrough College-Bound Program at SNHU, but their one full summer was filled with Breakthrough spirit! As summed up by Shreela, “Thank you so much for always being there and supporting me. This was the best year of Breakthrough I’ve ever had!"
Visit from Mayor Joyce Craig!
We were delighted to have Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig visit Breakthrough and speak with our students about the importance of education. She was impressed students were spending their summer learning and happy to see their engagement and enthusiasm which they bring back to Manchester schools each fall. Mayor Craig concluded by reminding students of the importance of their voices, empowering them to volunteer and be civically involved because they know what’s best for the Manchester community. “We need young people who are involved and care! You are our future.”

Meet Caroline Wilson
Breakthrough's New Program Director
No stranger to Breakthrough, we are excited to welcome Caroline, Breakthrough Teaching Fellow (2019 & 20) and Operations Coordinator (2021) back as Breakthrough's new Program Director!

“My first summer at Breakthrough changed the trajectory of my career. I discovered a love for education and developing equitable and inclusive programming for every student. Everyone needs a space to explore and find their passions. Breakthrough fosters that exploration while opening doors to investigate what is out there. I am excited to bring my past Breakthrough experiences and new experiences to the community.”
