An Inspiring Webinar and Successful Fundraiser
 
      Those who were able to watch john a. powell’s webinar—
Co-creating Common Ground—enjoyed a thought-provoking and reassuring perspective on today’s societal conflicts. powell acknowledges that some are threatened by change, become fearful and seek to blame an “other, but he explained how concentrated listening, a real ability to see and listen to another person, and an openness to diversity can lead to a positive perspective, creativity and belonging.
        This effort helped to raise $15,500 for the InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit. We thank everyone for their support.


Interfaith Organizations Present a Program about Spring Holidays of the Baha’i, Jain and Zoroastrian Faiths on May 22

       The InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit and WISDOM (Women’s Interfaith Solutions for Dialogue and Outreach in Metro Detroit) invite the community to a presentation about spring holidays of the Baha’i, Jain and Zoroastrian faiths on Sunday, May 22. The program will be available online and in person at the Jain Society of Greater Detroit, 29278 W. 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan.
       Presenters will include Hermione Pickens—Baha’i, Ankit Shah—Jain, and Dr. Ardeshir Irani—Zoroastrian. Rev. Dr. Charles Packer will be the moderator. From 2:30 to 3:00 p.m., participants will be able to tour the Jain Society. The panel discussion will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be offered and a donation of $20 is suggested to support the work of the InterFaith Leadership Council.
     “We are pleased to offer this opportunity to learn about these three religions and tour the Jain Center. Many of us are not familiar with the beliefs and traditions of these faiths and we welcome the opportunity to interact with their leaders and expand our interfaith knowledge,” said Gail Katz, board member of the InterFaith Leadership Council and WISDOM.

Michigan Muslim Community Council Awards Funds to the InterFaith Leadership Council

The Michigan Muslim Community Council (MMCC) has awarded $5,000 to the InterFaith Leadership Council as seed money for the new Interfaith Community Values Bridging to Belonging Project. The award was given to Rev. Stancy Adams, InterFaith Leadership Council chair, and Robert A. Bruttell, vice chair, at the MMCC’s recent interfaith Iftar.
