As we wind down the Christmas season with Malanka and the Feast of Jordan on the Julian calendar we share another joyful carol, Rai rozvyvsia, performed by Winnipeg's Chabluk Family. Thank you Vasyl, Maryka, Ivas, Mykhas and Katrusia for sharing our traditions with Canadians and for being the most popular carollers on TSF social media feeds over the holidays! |

Thank you for making an investment in our community, the generosity you have shown throughout the past year, and your remarkable financial support of all our annual campaigns in 2021. You continue to demonstrate your faith in the work of the Foundation and its support of the creativity that helps share our Ukrainian story with all Canadians.
Your generosity not only makes it possible for us to fund more great projects that will be part of your legacy as a Shevchenko Foundation donor, but also sets a powerful example for others to follow. Our goal is to be able to fund all the requests we receive that align with the Foundation’s mission, vision, and core values. Together – I’m confident we’ll do it!
On behalf of all of us at the Foundation, please accept our kindest wishes for a happy, healthy, prosperous, and inspirational new year! We look forward with anticipation to what the new year has to offer!
Sincerely,
Donna Korade Fund Development Officer |

The KOBZAR Book Award pays tribute to a historical storytelling tradition. Dating back to sixteenth century Ukraine, a kobzar was originally a Cossack bard or storyteller, who sang to the accompaniment of a musical instrument known as the kobza. Later, the tradition was continued by blind wandering minstrels who accompanied their singing by playing a bandura or a lira. Their repertoire was best known for the duma – a unique epic poem.
In addition to $25,000, the winning author will receive a stunning bronze statuette of a kobzar – the artistry of Canadian sculptor Oleh Lesiuk. |

We like to dream big! We know that there are many great Ukrainian Canadian stories to be told and we want to help share them all.
Today we invite you to help us plan for tomorrow by joining the Builders of Tomorrow – our circle of monthly donors. You can enjoy the many benefits offered by a monthly giving program including the convenience of donating with less of a strain on your charitable giving budget. Instead of dealing with the year-end stress that comes with the desire to support your favourite charities you can arrange for monthly donations that will be barely noticed throughout the year.
In turn, the steady income provided by your monthly donations will empower us to take bolder steps and engage with initiatives on a larger, far-reaching scale.
It’s easy to participate! Donate online at this link https://bit.ly/3ewbNk2 or call us toll-free at 1-866-524-5314 and we’ll get you set up. |
