On this Veterans Day, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for your dedication to our nation.

This day serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices you and your families have made, the hardships you've endured, and the extraordinary courage you've displayed while serving our country. Your commitment to duty has come at a great personal cost and our country is forever indebted to your service.

As we reflect on the significance of Veterans Day, I want to assure your our office is committed to supporting our veterans and ensuring you have the resources you need to thrive. We've held quarterly roundtables to hear your concerns, helped veterans receive their benefits, prevented the closure of our VA medical facilities and secured funding for critical upgrades, provided our local veterans with service medals and even facilitated a Bronze Star Award ceremony with the Secretary of the Navy for a WWII vet.

IN 2023, CONGRESS SUPPORTED:

• The FY24 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill that fully funds veterans’ health care, benefits and VA programs.
• H.R.1226, the Wounded Warrior Access Act, to modernize the VA by making it easier for veterans to access claim files electronically.
• H.R.815, the RELIEVE Act, to close a loophole that left certain veterans uninsured for emergency treatment. 
• H.R.502 to eliminate an outdated rules and allow 25,000 service members and veterans to receive the Montgomery GI Bill reimbursement they are entitled to.
• S.777, the Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2023, to ensure veterans’ benefits purchasing power does not erode due to inflation.
• H.R.1669, the VET–TEC Authorization Act of 2023, to continue an education and employment program for veterans and transitioning service members, as well as:
• Ensure a burial allowance for veterans who die at home under VA-funded care.
• Authorizing the use of electronic records for education assistance eligibility notification to make it easier for veterans and service members to access GI Bill benefits.
• H.R.366, the Korean American VALOR Act, to ensure Korean-American veterans who served in Vietnam are eligible for VA healthcare.
• S.30, the FY23 Veterans Affairs Major Medical Facility Authorization Act, to authorize the VA to construct or renovate seven major medical facilities in FY23.
• S.112, requiring the VA to make reforms to support children of Vietnam veterans who are born with spina bifida.
• H.R.3981, the Isakson-Roe Education Oversight Expansion Act, to expand VA oversight of educational institutions that receive GI bill education benefits.
• H.R.1530, the Veterans Benefits Improvement Act of 2023, to reform the process for veterans' benefit claims.
• S.2795, to extend contract for outside medical professionals to perform medical disability examinations for the VA.
