Dear University of Maine at Farmington Community,
I write to thank you for the thoughtful set of conversations many of you participated in during my January 24 visit to your university.
As you may already know, I visited for the purpose of gathering feedback on the current and future direction of the university with respect to its executive leadership. To that end, and with Interim President McDonnell’s full knowledge and support, I engaged in productive discussions with the following groups (in meetings that were open to all members of those groups):
- Staff Senate
- Faculty Senate
- Leadership Council
- Farmington Community
- Student Senate
- Board of Visitors
Without exception, the feedback shared during these sessions was constructive, and it served to reinforce two truths I’ve become well-acquainted with over the past four and a half years: The vital importance of your university to Farmington, Franklin County, and western Maine as a whole, and the deep and understandable pride felt by the university community and surrounding community in their connections to the institution.
Thank you again for your time, your insights, and your commitment to the University of Maine at Farmington.
Regards,
