Issue #22 | July 2019
We hope you had a happy and safe 4th of July! And we wish you a happy, healthy summer! Enjoy!

While we are not out visiting our Venturers in our partnering schools throughout the summer, we are very busy in our office preparing for FY20. We have many projects in the works that are keeping us all very busy.

We are excited to be working more closely with our interns this summer. Our longtime intern, Katelyn Murphy of Oakmont Regional High School has continued to support us for over a year. She is currently working on our website pages and our 'new' blog - - making updates and revamping. Our newest intern, Laylah Washington of Sizer School, has recently joined us and we couldn't be happier. Laylah is managing and maintaining this newsletter, among other things. They both bring many talents and skills to our organization and we are honored they chose to work with us. They are truly making a difference!

Check out our newly re-launched blog, here.

We wish to again extend a special thank you to the 117 people who generously gave their time and shared their wisdom as panelists for all of the launched Venture Teams this past year. We appreciate you all very much! Please see the list of our FY19 panelists, below.

As always, we appreciate you and thank you for your continued support!

~the United Way Youth Venture Team!
Ethan Chandler started Karate for Kids in February of 2017, hoping to positively impact children's lives. Ethan and his Team wanted to give kids the opportunity to participate in karate and learn skills like self-restraint and discipline. The Team has committed much time and effort into creating and growing Karate for Kids since its start. In 2018, Karate for Kids awarded its first scholarship. Now in 2019, Karate for Kids continues to award scholarships to youth including recent scholarship winner, Tai Le.

Congratulations Tai! And thank you Karate for Kids!
A community panel is comprised of three to four people whose key role is to listen, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback to students who are eager to make a positive change in their community. Panelists consider the Venture Team's action plan and presentation, and work together to decide if a Venture Team is ready to officially launch. The panelists provide teams with feedback and suggestions to encourage future success.

We would like to thank the FY19 panelists for providing an opportunity for all Venture Teams to be heard and to succeed!

If you would like to sit on a panel in the upcoming school year - please let us know!
