A year of Growth. A year of Generosity & Gratitude.

Dear Heather,

Wow–what an incredible year! As we reflect on everything we’ve accomplished together, we’re absolutely bursting with gratitude.

Over the past year, AFP has grown and evolved, and it’s clear that our community is stronger, more vibrant, and more diverse than ever. The organizations and individuals honored at NPD Los Angeles this month represented the very best of our sector—showcasing life-changing, world-shaping work. The brilliance of the awardees and the generosity they inspire remind us why we do what we do.

These moments of connection are only possible thanks to our phenomenal NPD Co-Chairs, Kathy Ward and Alyssa Hopf, as well as our dedicated committee and board members. They poured their hearts into making this celebration magical, and it showed in every thoughtful detail.

Oh, and bonus: the event photos are now live! You can relive the magic anytime here.

As 2024 winds down, we hope you’re reflecting on the bright spots of your year—new friendships forged, leadership lessons learned, and those unforgettable moments that filled you with pride and joy.

One of our bright spots this year was serving as your first 2024 Chapter Co-Presidents. We are proud of everything we were able to accomplish together. From new partnerships established with local chapters to create the SoCal Consortium, to bringing you valuable insights from industry leaders and introducing Coffee Hours and Summer MixersI hope you all felt the generosity of our community, because we certainly did.

May those memories inspire and energize you for all the possibilities of 2025.

With overflowing gratitude and joy,

Hannah Berger and Cassie Carter

Chamberlain Scholarship

AFP Greater Los Angeles Chapter is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for the 2025 Chamberlain Scholarship. Each year AFP Foundation for Philanthropy offers one registration scholarship to qualified chapters for the Annual AFP International Conference on Fundraising (ICON). This program is designed to help individuals serving nonprofit organizations develop their knowledge and skills in fundraising. The scholarship honors the memory of Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE.

AFP ICON, AFP’s flagship “International Conference,” is held each year and brings together nearly 4,000 fundraising professionals to discuss important trends and issues related to fundraising and philanthropy, with a focus on fundraising practice and technique.

The 2025 AFP ICON will be held April 27-29, 2025 in Seattle, Washington.

One candidate will be chosen by our Chapter Scholarship Committee to receive a scholarship toward registration for the AFP International Fundraising Conference on Philanthropy.  Registration fees, except for a $10 payment to secure registration, are paid by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy.

Applications due December 20, 2024.

Chapter Fund

The Chapter Fund is available to AFP GLAC members to help cover chapter dues, National Philanthropy Day, in-person events and educational opportunities as well as help underwrite costs of running the chapter for all members. The funds are important to sustain membership, open doors to learning, and to deepen the profession regionally. What the chapter offers improves fundraising skills across the region and builds networking. We all bring in additional cash, in-kind, and promotional support to find cures for cancer, homes for the homeless, new works of art, and countless other important things that make Los Angeles alive. One-time and monthly donations available.
