A Whirlwind Season at CAN

As the warmer weather settles in, we’re filled with renewed energy and hope for the season ahead. Despite ongoing challenges, the need for our programs remains as urgent as ever and the work doesn’t stop. Thanks to the unwavering generosity of our community, we’re charging full steam ahead with preparations for summer camp and we’re looking forward to another meaningful and memorable summer with the incredible kids we partner with!

Community Updates

We have so many exciting updates to share! Our Mental Health Fair in late April was a fantastic success. Community members showed up in full force to gather resources, connect, and leave with some fun goodies. At Brick, a beautiful new mural has been completed and installed, adding vibrant color to the outdoor space. Our community gardens are coming to life, especially at GBC, where volunteers and staff teamed up to give the space a major refresh, including the addition of doors to the garden beds. In mid-May, we wrapped up our Afterschool Program for the semester - and now, with summer break just around the corner, we’re counting down the days until camp begins!

P.S. Congratulations to all of the 2025 graduates, including some very special CAN students!

Summer Camp Here We Come!

Summer camp begins in just a few weeks here at CAN so we are busy hosting training sessions, preparing our centers, and gathering supplies.

The financial uncertainty is far from over, but from the bottom of our hearts we are so grateful for everyone's support to ensure we can host the best camp experience possible!

As of now, we have raised over $130,000 - all of which is being matched by several very generous donors.

There's still time to help us get to our goal!

In addition to our fundraiser, we recently received grants from the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs of Ann Arbor to support summer camp this year, totaling $12,500! These grants will primarily help cover the cost of supplies that make the camp experience so engaging for our students!

More good news - CAN is a recipient of Washtenaw County OCED's Mini-grant, which will support our broader education programs starting in July. In addition, the First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor awarded CAN an unexpected grant to support our work.

We're so grateful for the continued local support as we navigate the incredibly unpredictable funding landscape together.
