Mike began volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in the mid-1980’s through his church while living in Maryland. One of the first construction sites he worked at was a Jimmy Carter build in Washington D.C. After moving to Cedar Rapids in 1997, he immediately volunteered for Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity on the build site and soon joined the Family Support Committee, where he continues to serve. Additionally, Mike has served multiple terms on the CVHFH board of directors. He is also a board member for Habitat for Humanity of Iowa.
Mike had this to say about what Habitat means to him: “Helping others realize their dream of homeownership, having a very positive impact on family’s futures, creating long-lasting friendships with Habitat families, working with a talented and caring CVHFH staff and other volunteers is why I continue to serve Habitat families”
