ACAF has an Amazing Debut at the

Community Foundation Giving Tuesday Event!

Grateful.Thankful. Blessed. We at ACAF were overwhelmed by the support we received on November 27th from the Giving Tuesday event put on by the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan. Our community has already shown us so much generosity that we didn't think it could get any better - were we wrong! A record setting 97 individual gifts were received by ACAF and a total of almost $7,000 through the Community Foundation and an additional $4,000 in direct donations! With securing our new building and our fundraising efforts well underway - watch for great things to happen in 2019 - and we couldn't do it without all of you! Thank you for helping us give the animals a second chance.

Meet the Team - Keli Werda - President (aka Top Dog)

The team at ACAF has some pretty amazing people as part of it and we want all of you to get a chance to know them better - so every month we'll introduce you to one of them! This month, our Top Dog is the super-talented KELI WERDA! A native Alpenian, Keli has been married to John for 16 years and has two fabulous kids - Keyler & Kira plus the furry members of the family that include 2 Great Danes, a Great Pyrenees, a German Shepherd and 4 rescue cats! Keli graduated from the Institute of Natural Therapies in 2001 with a degree in Massage Therapy and spent 15 years as a massage therapist in a hobby capacity while working full time in Manufacturing & Industrial Sales. Keli currently manages Northern Lights Arena and in her spare time creates beautiful stained glass projects. Keli's Philosophy in Life: "No Regrets! If I make a (wrong) choice, I choose to learn from it rather than regret it. Everyone has a CHOICE to be happy or sad, to love or hate, to regret or learn." We at ACAF are thrilled that Keli chose to be part of our team and is using her talents to help the animals in our community!

If you are doing a little decluttering over the holidays, please keep ACAF in mind! Our new resale shop will be oping in the Spring - conveniently located right at our facility. Until then, we will be having a few "Off the Leash" events in and around Alpena for you to do some shopping at - feel good about your purchase knowing 100% of our items are donated so the ENTIRE sale goes to help the animals, not just a % of the profit.
