Thankful for you
‘Tis the season for giving thanks. As Thanksgiving approaches, our St. Petersburg Free Clinic team has been reflecting on gratitude. We’re especially grateful for your support – not only now, but all year long – because you have an incredible impact on our neighbors in need.

We’re also inspired every day by the increasing number of people who seek our help and trust us to provide them with health care, housing, and food.

Because of people like you, these individuals without health care now have control over their health. Families struggling to make ends meet now have food on their tables. And more men, women and families have a safe place to stay while they get back on their feet.

Just as we are encouraged by those we serve, we are also encouraged by our tireless, compassionate volunteers and benevolent donors: Thank you for the many ways in which you make it possible for us to help more of our neighbors in need.

Your compassion and generosity have an incredibly positive impact on so many in our community.

"Playing" it forward

Rita Catherine Guglielmo (known to her loved ones as "Katie") grew up in a military family, living in places like Hawaii, Germany, and Puerto Rico, until her parents settled in Tampa. But one opportunity arose that took Katie across the globe.

Katie's grandmother taught her how to play the piano, which quickly became her passion. She soon began playing piano on a cruise ship and toured internationally on well-known ocean liners for the next 30 years.

And though she was always dressed for the show, she didn’t spend much money on herself. She instead donated a portion of her estate – her hard-earned money – to St. Petersburg Free Clinic to help local individuals and families who are homeless.

Health Education Center makes an impact
For many low-income individuals in our community, medical care often takes a backseat to other pressing needs. And many people struggle to manage chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

But the Health Center and the Health Education program are helping these patients through educational classes led by nutritionists and healthy living coaches. Program participants can choose from free group fitness classes, cooking demonstrations, and stress reduction activities to help them manage their chronic illnesses beyond the use of medications.

Your caring support of our neighbors without insurance - and in need of medical care - has made programs like these possible.

Host a food drive this holiday season
Many Pinellas County families fear they won’t have enough food on the table to feed their children. This fear is amplified when kids are out of school for winter break.

You can help. This holiday season, host a food drive with your co-workers, friends or family.

The Free Clinic brings collection barrels to you and supplies promotional flyers and a list of the most-needed items. Our team picks up the barrels and donated items when your drive is complete.

Your donations are provided to our neighbors in need through our We Help Services Client Choice Food Pantry

Giving Tuesday returns December 3
Giving Tuesday – a global day of giving fueled by the power of collaboration and social media – is coming up on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Your generosity on this year’s Giving Tuesday can have a lasting impact. Your gift will feed hungry children through the Pack A Sack program, which provides children with nutritious, shelf-stable foods on the weekends.

Donate on Giving Tuesday via our website and Facebook page to give weekend food to hungry children. A gift of just $5 provides one weekend Pack A Sack, or $200 will give that child a Pack A Sack each weekend throughout the school year.

Mark your calendar to feed a hungry child in your community.

Bike donations needed
Biking is a healthy and convenient form of transportation for our clients. That’s why we always welcome donations of new or gently used bicycles to be refurbished and fit upon request.

We give bikes to our We Help Services clients or residents to help them get to work, school, and more.

You can help our clients by bringing new or gently used bikes to We Help Services at 863 3 rd  Ave N in St. Petersburg. Or, if you’re mechanically savvy and have experience working on bikes, our bike team is looking for volunteers.
