At PortSide, we have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We write to thank you all and to describe our gratitude. We are so thankful for our new publicly accessible home. It has allowed us to give so many more people a PortSide WaterStories experience.
We have enjoyed the excitement of newcomers to the MARY A. WHALEN -- from foreign tourists to a group of
Brooklyn school children last week, and learned from them all.

Our spirit and history archive have been enriched by the enthusiasm and memories of former crew members who found us this year. Two more reconnected with the MARY, both thanks to our new spot.

Capt. Thomas Smith was a surprise during our POW! open house. He got right back behind the helm.

We were blessed by musicians from Switzerland and Norway who donated concerts. We got college interns from Spain! Volunteers painted several ship cabins and helped run events.
We have been cheered and honored by people from the community who stop by and say how glad they are to see PortSide visible, provided with stability, and growing.
All that, and more, have made us better able to better serve the public.
Thanks to all of you who offered such kinds of support or contributed as part of our
#GetOnBoard campaign. We are thankful to be so appreciated.

A small group of us will have the first PortSide Thanksgiving on the MARY A. WHALEN this Thursday.
We'll be playing Scrabble in the galley afterwards. If you are in the neighborhood, you are welcome to stop by for Scrabble and coffee from 4-8pm. Best wishes for your own Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Carolina Salguero
