Good morning

Yes it's December! And we've got the weather to pro.ve it! This is a month of festive events and gatherings.we urge you.to choose a pace that allows you to "get it all done" and still enjoy the spirit of love, giving and thankfulness we have just begun.

Our vendors have (hopefully) refreshed and invigorated.and are back in full force. They tend to indulge their creativity this time of year, adding to your pleasure as you shop,

Finding a gift is easy here: hand knit sweaters and lovely wool, seasonal. candles and felted items, hand carved buttons, carefully crafted medicinals.. Most of our vendors offer gift certificates and buying plans - a joy to receive.

Downtown Bath has lots of holiday action going on so pick up a flyer at any local store or go to www.visitbath.com

One and only colors from Meadowcroft Farm
From our vendors-specials, s ales, seasonal

Nanne is back at Meadowcroft with and extravagantly fine batch of handknit and well styled sweaters in her glorious colors. Don't forget a blanket: tis the season.

Over at Maine Saltwater , see what Filly has done with haddock and mashed potatoes in her cozy casserole, paired perhaps with carrot ginger or Hungarian
mushroom soup.

Try the Sennebec at Appleton Creamery, lovely goat cheese rounds all holiday ready in fresh parsley and pink peppercorns.

Robust crimini mushrooms from Oyster Creek
Get happy with warmed apple cake from Chase Farm , or maybe a slice of her coffee cake with fruit preserves. And fresh butter and milk will brighten your breakfast for sure.

Tarbox has some wonderful old fashioned escarole-bright green with a deep yellow center. Try making a simple soup: Slice thin and simmer with a little garlic,a good chicken broth. Try with some sliced fennel, too

Old Narrow Gauge has an intriguing selection of fall preserves: Fiorelle pear is one. And some Quince Paste, subtly dynamic with soft goat cheese or wrapped in wisps of pastry for a short bake & a long savor.

At Pleasant Pond Orchard, glowing Wealthy apples
It's a treat each week to see what varieties of apples come in from Pleasant Pond Orchard. New last week were Wealthy and Stark. Plenty of Romes and Macs too; and don'e miss the box of free ones for those who donate to the animal shelter.
.
Goranson has some fresh celeriac-a valued root-peel or shave/grate into soup or broth, add to cold slaws or roast slightly salted slices in the oven. It's all good. Lots of maple syrup too full of rich flavor-and a happily received gift.

Honey wheat walnut and Cinnamon raisin breads are crustily appealing and , by the way, freeze well. Lots of cinnamon pastries and whole wheat croissants too. At Hootenanny

Onions can be festive too. Shallots and cippolinis, at Tarbox Farm
John at Mainely Poultry suggests you order your holiday turkey now-or duck(s) if you prefer. He is seeing a growing demand for his Pekin hybrids.

Carrots, beets and squash from Gracies Garden taste great-and their jewel tones are very festive and pretty on your table. So easy too, for all that flavor!

Sniffle or flu? December aches? Stop at Mana Medicinals and talk to Anna about which of her well crafted tinctures and other preparations
