THE LATEST NEWS AND INFORMATION FROM
WALLKILL PUBLIC LIBRARY

Thanks to VOW for the Duck Derby table!
Many thanks to the Vision of Wallkill for giving the library a table at the May 13 Duck Derby event! While there, we were able to hand out information on the upcoming Summer Reading Program along with Take-and-Make crafts and rubber ducks for the kids (and some adults)! Thanks also to Hudson Valley Reptile & Rescue for their presentation that day. Not only did they put on a good show, but they patiently stayed later to answer questions and let the audience interact with their reptile friends! (Look below for more pics!)
The lists you created in the old catalog are retrievable!
|
Though the library recently switched to a new online catalog, many other libraries in the Ramapo Catskill Library System to which Wallkill belongs have not. What does that mean? The lists you may have created in the old Enterprise catalog are still accessible to you.
Not only that, but you can switch them over to the new Aspen Discover online catalog by following these steps:
- Go to the website of a library that’s still using the Enterprise catalog (as of this writing, that includes Josephine-Louise Public Library, Gardiner Library, and Pine Bush Area Public Library) and log into your Enterprise account
- Click “My Lists”
- The names of your lists will appear in the left-hand side of the screen, and the list entries will be on the right
- Select the list you want to transfer to the new catalog. Click the checkbox next to the “Select an Action” dropdown to choose all titles in the list. Select the “Print” action, which will generate a list you can copy. Select the text on the page and copy it
- In another tab or window, open Wallkill’s new Aspen catalog and log in with your library card number and PIN. Click the “Your Lists” option under the My Account box
- Click “Create New List” and name the list
- Click the name of the new list to view the list screen. Click the “Add Multiple Titles” button
- Paste the list from Step 3 into the box and click “Add to List”
- Compare the new list to the old one – you’re going to have extra titles belonging to authors because Aspen treats each line as a separate entry. You can delete these by clicking the big red "Delete" button next to the titles
Alternately, you can email a copy of your Enterprise list to yourself and copy the ISBNs from each title, but this is a lengthier process. If you’d still like to try it or have any other questions about retrieving your old lists, don’t hesitate to call the circulation desk or stop in!

Fiction Club picks June read
|
|
Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five will be discussed at the library Fiction Club’s June meeting.
The 1969 semi-autobiographical novel details the experiences of Billy Pilgrim who, like Vonnegut, was held as a prisoner-of-war by the Germans during World War II and survived the bombing of Dresden. Unlike Vonnegut, Billy Pilgrim was also a time-traveler who was abducted by aliens.
The Fiction Club will meet again at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, at the library.
