THANKSGIVING: WE ARE ONE

Dear Friends,

Next month RWF will celebrate its 23rd anniversary. We have a lot to be thankful for. In those years, we have distributed more than six million dollars in aid and grants to more than 30 countries. All staff are volunteers, and have been supported so far by 85,000 volunteer hours contributed by people like you.

Our donors, LGBTQ+ people and their allies, for the most part, have much to be thankful for. Here in the SF Bay area, we enjoy favorable climate, supportive politics, and throughout the US we have the freedom to love whom we love and live a freer, more authentic life. We do not live in a war zone, and though natural disasters have sometimes happened here, we have recovered, and many prosper.

Yet we know this is not true for everyone everywhere. RWF raises awareness in the LGBTQ+ community of those suffering in the world, and offers a way to make a difference. It says to those receiving aid that LGBTQ+ people exist, and that LGBTQ+ people and their allies in the United States believe, even at a great distance, that we are one.

We are incredibly thankful for your generosity, for the help it sends to those suffering the world over, and for saying to those suffering in so many places “You are not alone, you are not forgotten, we care. We are one, and we can help.”

We wish you all have a peaceful and joyous holiday season. We hope you will help us continue to make a difference in the lives of those affected by natural disasters, poverty, war, and persecution.

Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!

DO YOU HAVE A WISH FOR THE WORLD?
A Global Holiday Project Promoting Peace, Love, and Humanitarianism for All People on Earth

Give your wish wings and help decorate the RWF World Tree of Hope, our annual global holiday project to inspire hope, love and humanitarian action.

This December thousands of origami cranes inscribed with wishes for the future of the world - from people all over the world - will grace the 18th annual RWF World Tree of Hope at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.

The tree is RWF's gift to the world, and reflects our philosophy of building bridges and sharing the message that we are all one human family.

Be part of this unique symbol of global unity! Send us your wish and it will be printed, folded into an origami crane, and placed on the RWF World Tree of Hope with thousands of wishes, hopes, and prayers from around the world. It's free and open to everyone!

Notable wishes on the tree include President Barack Obama, Dame Jane Goodall, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Sharon Gless, Dame Edna, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Kristi Yamiguchi, Frances Moore Lappe, Danielle Steel, and RuPaul.

Read celebrity, children's & notable wishes here! and see our video invitation to the tree! Wishes will be added to the tree throughout December.

To support this international symbol of peace, select "World Tree of Hope" when you donate online or when sending a check to RWF, 4111 18th Street, San Francisco, CA 94114.
