There is so much to be thankful for, which we should consider daily not only during Thanksgiving. Counting my blessings...naming them one by one to see what the Lord has done is real to me. Counting my blessings with the melody of the song brings tears of joy, not sadness because it puts life into perspective. Recognizing the long list of illnesses, deaths, and challenges suffered by family members, friends, clients, and, yes, even myself, I hold on to that childhood song because the words that were true then are still true now. Trust and believe that things will improve. I look up and realize my list of thanks is long…but I have another opportunity and another day to say, ‘thank you.’

For 25 years Publix has partnered with Kiwanis to provide food to families in need for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Law Office of Salesia Smith-Gordon is a joyful participant in the partnership. We are pleased that 160 food-insecure families will receive a box to take home for the holidays. Each box will include a turkey, milk, gravy, potatoes, bread, pie, and canned veggies.

Kiwanis Club of Northside West Palm Beach is part of Kiwanis International, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. As a Kiwanian, Attorney Salesia Smith-Gordon and the law office team provides Thanksgiving food boxes provided by Publix to families with food insecurities and are injury challenged. The boxes include fresh whole turkey, gallon milk, a loaf of bread, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, various pies. Team #LOSVSG takes time to surprise those we know are in need with the Thanksgiving food boxes as a gift from us to them to help with their struggles. We see people and are willing to help.

I was involved in a car accident in 2016 and from the moment I walked into Mrs. Smith-Gordon’s office, I received nothing but love and support. Robert and Mrs. Smith-Gordon provided me with excellent service throughout my case and were very informative. I started my business with my two children, Layla (11 years old) and Logan (8 years old). My late father would call my kids his little busy bees and that’s how we developed our name. We are currently attending markets again and plan to open our own storefront one day. We recently added a new aspect into our business called Candles and Sip, where we bring the party to you. Everyone will get a chance to make their own candle from start to finish while sipping on wine and enjoying a good time with friends. TAKING ASPIRIN DAILY? READ THIS...

According to a report by an influential panel of experts, aspirin is no longer recommended as the first line of defense against a heart attack in older adults, says USA Today. The report, published by the U.S. Preventative Service Task Force was released in September. The task force recommends that anyone ages 40-59 who is at a higher risk for cardiovascular disease speak to their clinician prior to starting an aspirin regimen. Those 60 and older should not start taking it due to the potential for aspirin to increase bleeding in older patients. Learn more about the report here.

Mediation is a procedural process in which a trained Supreme Court-certified neutral person helps to resolve the dispute between the parties. The purpose is an attempt to eliminate the need to tie up court time and reduce the risks of negative outcomes that each party faces. In civil suits cases, like traumatic accidents, mediation is court-ordered as part of the pre-trial process.
