Dear VCS Families,
On Friday, November 13, we received an update from Santa Clara County regarding COVID-19 protocols and guidance for households regarding Thanksgiving gatherings and travel. Among those is the strong recommendation to quarantine for 14 days following travel out of the Bay Area or hosting someone who traveled from outside the Bay Area to participate in holiday gatherings.
After careful deliberations, we feel it is in our community's best interest to pivot to distance learning for the two weeks following Thanksgiving break. We recognize the likelihood that many within our VCS community plan to travel or receive guests from outside of the Bay Area for Thanksgiving week. As such, we feel it is prudent to collectively honor the updated multi-county 14-day quarantine protocol after the break.
After the 14-day distance learning period, VC Elementary will resume meeting for in-person instruction Monday through Thursday, December 14-17. However, the Skyway Campus will continue in distance learning mode through the end of the semester on Friday, December 18.
While we are pivoting to distance learning, we also hope to allow students to come to campus outside of school hours through many outdoor extracurricular A³ programs. Please look for additional communications from your specific campus principal and program leaders for further information.
During these uncertain times, it is comforting to remind ourselves, "The mind of a person plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps" (Proverbs 16:9 NASB). Thank you for your continued support as we safely navigate the health and welfare of our VCS community.
Looking forward,
